The Kingston Fire District is governed by a Board of Wardens who is elected by the District’s taxpayers. They, along with other elected District officials, are responsible for the oversight and fiscal management of the District. KFD holds monthly public board meetings and its annual taxpayer meeting in May, where the yearly budget is voted on and approved. Click here to access KFD’s approved annual budget.
KFD’s Board of Wardens has the overall responsibility for the operation of Kingston Fire Department. The board exercises that responsibility through the Chief of the Department. The Chief is appointed by the District Board, along with two Deputy Chiefs. Fire Department Officers are appointed by the Chief, subject to the approval of the Board of Wardens. The Department Chief operates the department much as the CEO of any organization. The appointee is responsible for the department operations including budgeting and expenditures.
