Volunteering for the Kingston Fire Department is easy and offers a way for people to give back to the community as well as gain valuable knowledge and skills. Benefits include but are not limited to:

The Kingston Fire Department is always looking for new members to serve as firefighters, or in other capacities for the fire company. Members interact with the community, train for fire and rescue operations, and fulfill an important and necessary role in the community. Requirements for probationary firefighters are :

  • Attend a Weekly Training (Wednesday Evenings 7pm-9pm or Sunday Morning 10am-12pm)
  • Attend Monthly Meetings on the Second Wednesday of Each Month (7pm)
  • Take a Minimum of 10 Second Duty Shifts During Probationary Period
  • Complete the Probationary Training Requirements and Pass the Final Test Within One Year of Joining

Members of the university community, residents of the town of South Kingstown and other communities interested in joining are encouraged to contact the office during business hours or stop by and see the station and meet current members week nights from 6pm-9pm or weekends from 1pm to 9pm
