On Wednesday, July 24, South Kingstown Dispatch received a call from a resident at 62 Gould Street reporting a fire in the basement. The first alarm was struck at 13:56 for UFD Stations 1, 2, 3, 6 and KFD Ladder 2. Upon arrival Car 21 reported a 2 story, wood frame dwelling with smoke showing. Chief 2 arrived shortly thereafter and requested a 2nd alarm be stuck for manpower. Engine 9, Rescue 6, and Chief 9 responded from KFD for the 2nd alarm. Ladder 2 headed to the roof while Engine 9 and a member of Ladder 2 headed to the 1st and 2nd floors to conduct a primary search. UFD Engine 10 stretched a line to the basement and conducted a search in conjunction with UFD Engine 14. Rescue 6 helped Ladder 2 and Engine 9 conduct overhaul and check for extension. The fire was extinguished quickly and no extension was found.
